ECUMENE

Ecumene is a futuristic capsule collection inspired by Biologizing the
Machine by Anicka Yi, exploring the symbiosis between biology and
technology. In a dystopian and desolate world, anthropomorphic beings
emerge from biotechnological chrysalises as the final evolved forms of a
mutating humanity.
The garments, fluid and dynamic, narrate the phases of transformation
through complex structures derived from decomposed organic
elements. The collection’s protagonist is a custom-developed latex
applied to crocodile skin, infused with a green thread that evokes
living moss. Irregular and porous surfaces appear infested with mold,
reflecting the interaction between body, environment, and living matter.
The collection is completed by naturally dyed wool furs, resins,
and boning that mimic the structure of cocoons. Silhouettes merge
fluidity with construction, featuring volumes that grow like expanding
organisms. Three-dimensional details inspired by spores and filaments
heighten the tactile experience. Ecumene offers a poetic and unsettling
vision of post-human fashion: skin, garment, and artificial intelligence
merge into a new ecosystem to be worn.
